Jo Eckard

My name is Jo Eckardt. I started doing tours as a private guide in 2003, shortly after moving to Berlin after many years in the US.

I have a Ph.D. as well as a MSW from NYU. My oldest son was born in New York, he was part of the reason why I came back to Germany.

When I don't take people around Berlin, I write books about parenting. Check out my other webpage:

(sorry but it's all in German).
This is my team

I also have short videos of each person that you can watch on their special page (just check the language page, or see below).

From left to right, back row: Ramon (Spanish and French), Niti (English, Thai and Chinese), Ophir (English, Hebrew), Michael (English, see his video on the Dresden page), Robert (English, Italian).
Front row: Carlos (spanish), Tania (English, Italian, Portuguese), Xiaogeng (Chinese), Susanna (English, Spanish), Olivier (French, Portuguese, Spanish).

Susanna Wieghardt

This is Susanna. She has been on the team since 2005. I met her in New York where she both worked at Deutsches Haus at NYU. After 5 years in the US, she returned to Germany shortly before her first child was born.

She is an expert on Berlin and loves doing tours. Her English is very good and she also speaks fluent Spanish!

This is what Mr. Edwards from Texas said about her:
Even though it was raining in Berlin, our guide, Susanna, made it a highlight through her extensive and thorough explanation of the history, architecture and cultural aspects of both East and West Berlin. Susanna’s experience at the most popular sites also allowed us to avoid some of the longest lines, but her positive attitude and helpful nature made the day most memorable.

M. Caplan wrote: I just wanted to drop you a line regarding our Berlin tour with Susanna. She was prompt and very informative. She is very knowledgable, we grew quite fond of her and really did not want to let her go.Thank you for a wonderful tour!
Sharon Kuckuck

This is Sharon Kuckuck. Kuckuck is the German word for the Cuckoo bird, but Sharon is still very much the New Yorker. She was born and raised in New York City where she studied Media and Film with a special interest in Holocaust Cinema at New York University. In 2000 marriage and kids brought her to Berlin where she worked as a researcher in German television.

Sharon and I have known each other since 2002 when our kids started school together. She is presently in the US but will return to Germany and do more tours for me in 2010.
